By the end of this subject, students should be able to illustrate the purpose of education systems and schools and the role they play in modern societies. They should also explain the relationship between schools, society, and a country’s development and how public institutions and diverse forces affect educational processes and outcomes, and vice versa. In addition, they ought to gain a deep understanding of the social status of teachers of English. Finally, they are to identify and evaluate current trends in education and demonstrate an understanding of forms of social inequality and how schools contribute to such an imbalance.
